Achieving First Page Search Results

I have been designing websites for over 15 years and I have been lucky enough to find myself on the first page of Google’s search results at various times over the years. If you really want to be a successful internet entrepreneur, you will need to put forth the effort and do whatever it takes to get on Google’s first page. At the current time, Google commands the internet for all of the searches made throughout the world. Of course, there’s a good reason for this. Google is an extremely fast search engine that provides absolutely outstanding search results. Personally, I only use Google when I search the internet because no other search engine can provide the same results. Since Google is such an imposing force, it’s extremely important to structure your website in such a manner that Google will stand up and take notice. That’s not an easy task, but anyone can accomplish that if they have an overwhelming desire to do so. It simply takes a lot of time, research, hard work and money to make it to Google’s first page. Don't ever forget, success only comes before work in the dictionary! Any business, whether on the internet or not, must advertise if they are going to be successful. How can your internet business survive and become a profitable venture if potential customers have no idea that you have a website available that has exactly what they are looking for? A website needs a steady flow of customers every day to provide adequate sales revenue. I did not say visitors! I said that you needed a steady flow of customers. If you have a hundred thousand visitors a day and you don’t sell anything, you’ll simply have to close your doors and shut down your business. There is no other alternative. Well, what type of advertising will you need to do if you want to be successful? There are numerous ways to advertise on the internet. Simply search for various advertising methods and you will find more than you will ever need. Plan to spend a day or two sifting through the different proposals being offered. You should be extremely careful when considering any of these companies since they do not all do what they claim they will. I’m very cautious about doing business with a company in a foreign country. Whenever I consider doing business with an advertising company, the first thing that I want to know is where the company's main office is located at and how many employees do they have. If they have additional offices, I also want to know their locations. If I’m not satisfied with the reply, I simply scratch that company off my list. A large majority of these companies do not provide an email address on their website. You will have to use their form email to make your initial inquiry. When they respond, you will then have a bonafide email address to use for further correspondence. After I receive an answer to my initial email, I will then make a second inquiry if I’m still interested. I have a prepared list of questions that I email to each company. At the end of my list, I ask a very direct question that can be used in any credit card dispute if that particular company does not provide the services promised upfront. I simply ask if they will agree to a full refund of my payment for their services if they do not accomplish what they have agreed to do prior to receiving my payment in advance for their services. I then tell them if they will not agree to this stipulation, to simply disregard my email and no answer is required. You have no idea how many emails are never answered. Well, you quickly found out what you wanted to know and saved yourself a tremendous of time and possibly a few frustrating disputes. Of course, you could advertise on one of the major search engines. Let’s take a look at what Google has to offer. You can purchase advertising space on any of their pages that return search results. Google sells the top three spots on each page for a predetermined monthly fee. A representative with Google recently told me that over sixty percent of all of their visitors click on one of those three spots. That’s a tremendous opportunity to secure the needed traffic that would insure your success, but it’s rather expensive. For example, the keyword that I was inquiring about was being searched approximately 180,000 times per month in the United States. It would have cost me over $4,000 per month to buy one of those spots. That would have been over $50,000 a year. There’s not too many small companies that can afford an advertising budget like that. At one time, I created a website with approximately 150 pages that returned over 400 first and second page search results on Google. Most of the search terms consisted of one to three words. These remarkable results were achieved through trial and error which required a lot of time and a lot of hard work. I kept experimenting with the contents of my pages and their Meta tags. Not one dollar was spent on advertising in this endeavor. Since that time, Google has made it more difficult to achieve first page results, but as previously mentioned, it is attainable if you want it bad enough. Currently, Google measures a good part of a website’s true value (PR) on the amount of content that is provided on the internet by a website and the number of the inbound links from High PR Forums, Directories and other websites. The keywords that are associated with those inbound links are also quite important in determining the relationship of relevant search terms to a particular website. Today, the popularity of any website is the key to the worth that Google places on it and to your success on the internet.
